2009 festival is dedicated to 150 years from the birth of Sholom Aleichem, the great Jewish writer. Displays History of Eastern European Jews in pictures, songs, dancers, concerts, and presentations.
Commemorated to the works of the Great Jewish writer, satirist and humorist Sholom Aleichem. . Sholom Aleihem was born 150 years ago in Imperial Russia. He had brought Yiddish culture of the small shtetl to the level of world culture. In his books, Sholom Aleichem expressed unconditional love for his people, using warmth and humor. * His work has been widely translated and adapted for screen and stage, in plays and musicals like “Fiddler on the Roof”, loosely based on Sholom Aleichem's stories about his character “Tevye the Milkman” was the first English-language play about Eastern European Jewish life.
